Latent Effects of ^(60)Cobalt Teleirradiation on the Female Rats


Abstract
In order to understand the histogenesis of complication of the patient of the cervical cancer following to teleirradiation, 6000 rats of 60Cobalt (usual therapeutic doses of cervical cancer) was teleirradiated into the lower abdominal wall (3 x 5cm) of normal matured rats.
6 months after 60Cobalt teleirradiation, microscopically examined of skin, vagina, uterine cervix, uterine corpus, oviducts, ovaries, urinary bladder, rectum, peripheral blood and bone marrow of the rat.
The results were as follows
1) Dermis of skin, submucosal layer of uterine corpus, oviducts and urinary bladder showed minimal infiltration of round cells and also showed minimal proliferation of connective tissue in 2 cases of vagina and one case of rectum.
2) It was showed minimal proliferation of endometrial gland in 3 cases, of mucosal layer of oviducts in 4 cases and also revealed adenocarcinoma of ovary in one case.
3) All cases of vagina, uterine cervix, uterine corpus, oviducts, rectum and urinary bladder didn¢¥t show necrosis of mucosa, desquamation, fistula or tumor.
4) As above mention, it was suspected that complications of the patient of the cervical cancer following to teleirradiation was almost tissue damage due to necrosis of tumor.
